Victoria Nwankwo is an Emory University scholar working at the intersection of African American Studies, Sociology, and community-driven research. She’s a Henry L. Bowden Dean’s Achievement & Liberal Arts Scholar and a Her Campus E.L.F. “22 Under 22” honoree, and contributes to youth-focused equity and civic initiatives at the Partnership for Southern Equity. By 18, she had sat across the table from heads of state, been accepted into national leadership programs with acceptance rates in the single digits, and consulted for organizations across multiple industries — experience that shapes how she works with every VSG client.

I didn’t always know exactly what I wanted to do. I just knew I wanted more — more exposure, more possibilities, access to opportunities I didn’t yet know existed.
What I learned along the way is that opportunities don’t always go to the most qualified person. They go to the person who knows how to communicate their value, position themselves, and navigate rooms nobody handed them a map to.
I built VSG because I don’t believe young people should have to stumble into the knowledge, networks, and confidence that make opportunity accessible. It should be teachable. And it should be affordable.
